Dalit Daughter defeated her disability by winning Star Line Miss India contest

Varsha Dongre (24), against all odds, challenging the all obstacles inflicted upon her by nature created history by claiming Star Line Miss India title held in Agara. Varsha is a deaf-mute divyang from Indore who cannot speak or hear. She communicates through sign language and expressed her satisfaction as she fulfilled her beloved late father’s dream. She participated in general category and not as deaf-mute and claimed victory by defeating 1000 contestants.
Her struggle as person with speech disability & hard of hearing and as a dalit was not easy throughout the course of her achievement. From financial soundness to social acceptance, everywhere she had a troubled experience. She has been very sensitive towards humanitarian issues. Her father died few years back and it was his dream that her daughter should hold beauty pageant title and work towards humanity. Inspired from her father’s words she announced to donate her organs post-humus. On 13th august, world organ donation day is observed and on same day while participating in an online conference organized by Rotary club, Anand service societies, Mohan foundation and Pahal foundation; Varsha Dongre noted, “Though I’m deaf and mute, after my death my organs like eyes, liver etc. can help in saving someone else life; and no wealth can be larger and satisfactory than this.”
Her both parents were born deaf-mute. Her family is whole special. Despite all the challenges she won deaf-Mute Miss MP Beauty pageant. And then she claimed star line miss India. She has dream to participate in Miss Universe and claim that title of most elite and prestigious beauty pageant. She is also pursuing Bachelors of commerce in Indore. She remembers the financial hurdle in participating and visiting the places. Her family cannot afford the bearing cost of her alone so many relatives and organizations like red-cross helped her to participate and pursue her dreams. Her family has appealed the people to help their daughter financially and morally for Miss Universe contest.
Indore’s collector, Manish Singh has organized a little gathering in her regards and recognizing her potential. He also offered all possible help that contributes in development and awareness of Indore city. Varsha Dongre has become Dalit’s pride who is not just a beauty pageant title holder but also a remarkable human being from where youths can borrow inspiration.
