Kejriwal’s confession: “I couldn’t fulfill three promises…”, a new deadline or an attempt to mislead?

Share News:

Arvind Kejriwal confessed that he has not fulfilled three major promises in Delhi such as ‘Cleaning the Yamuna, providing clean drinking water, and making the roads of European standards. However, he has given a new deadline to complete them in the next five years. The opposition and the public are questioning why the Kejriwal government couldn’t fulfill these promises in the last eight years, considering them as broken promises. Such a confession of Kejariwal shows that except these three promises all promises have been completed. In other words, he has fulfilled and completed all promises and demands of people of Delhi except Yamuna cleanliness, Delhi’s roads on European model and water crisis. But the ground reality of Delhi is opposite to his strong statement.

Arvind Kejriwal has recently admitted to breaking three of his big promises during his election rally. His confession came out when the election atmosphere was hot in Delhi and the opposition parties were accusing ‘‘Aam Aadmi Party’’ for breaking the promises. Now the crisis of trust among the public is deepening, because in his recent speech wherein he has confessed. Three promises that he could not fulfil such as public cleaning of Yamuna river, clean drinking water and Delhi’s roads on the European standards. For the last 8 years he has been claiming only but did not work on it. Now again he is giving a deadline of 5 years to complete these promises. But the problem is that he has not disclosed any reason behind it. What were the main hurdles that stopped him from working on it?

Dream of Yamuna Cleaning: Is it just a statement?

After the Kejriwal government came to power in 2015, he had promised to make Delhi’s Yamuna river clean and pollution free. Kejriwal was of the view that “By 2020 Yamuna will be so clean that fish will swim in it and people will be able to take baths”. Thousands of crores of rupees were spent in the name of cleanliness, but the results are zero. Yamuna is still known as a poisonous river. Now, Kejriwal has asked for two more years for the cleanliness of Yamuna. The question arises whether this promise is guaranteed to be fulfilled in the next five years, or is it just another excuses

Clean Cater Claims: Reality or Fallacy?

The promise of making Delhi’s roads of European standards was also a big promise of the Kejriwal government. This promise has been made once in 2015 and again repeated in 2020. But in the name of good roads this work has been done only in main roads and in posh areas. Whereas the roads in the outer and rural areas of Delhi are still in a dilapidated condition. The problem of potholes and waterlogging on the roads continues. The claim of providing European standard roads to the people of Delhi still seems to be a distant dream. Clean water is a basic human right. No one can survive on dirty, muddy, or foul-smelling water. Yet, political leaders continue to ask for votes based on this issue, and Kejriwal was one of them. The shocking part is that this promise has not been fulfilled for the last 10 years. People living in high-rise buildings, DDA colonies, societies, and posh areas enjoy good quality water, but the residents of Bastis, Jhuggis, and camps in the same areas do not have access to clean water. In some areas, people have reported receiving water that is as filthy as gutter water.

New deadline of Kejriwal Government: Cheating the Public again?

Arvind Kejriwal has now given a new deadline of the next five years to fulfill these three promises. But now the question is, when these promises had not been fulfilled in the last few years, why should the public believe in them for the same again. Is this deadline just a way to mislead the public again? opposition parties say that the Kejriwal government makes new promises in every election. But their old promises always remain unfulfilled. The people of Delhi are now tired of these deadlines and big claims. The 2025 Delhi elections are no better or different from the previous elections. “Aam Aadmi Party”, has again said new things and made new promises, but now the question is whether it will fulfill these promises or will it whitewash something else.

Education and literacy

The education sector is often described by him and his party as well-developed, with good school buildings and low or no fees. However, the reality behind this portrayal is quite different. The public has been misled on a large scale, and this deception has been presented very clearly. In a place like Delhi, which is the capital of the country, students from SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities do not even have access to basic education.

Schools: Delhi government schools are now often presented with well-constructed buildings, access to clean drinking water, clean washrooms, midday meals, quality education, and various programs designed to provide the best support for students who need extra attention. Kejriwal has highlighted these improvements, and while progress has been made, challenges still remain.

All of these improvements are attributed to Kejriwal’s efforts, but the data we have received is quite surprising. The education of Delhi’s students has been left to fate. A total of 101,331 students have failed in classes 9 and 10, while 501,914 students have failed in classes 11 and 12.

These numbers clearly give evidence what the education sector reality is.

University/Colleges: The cost of a B.Tech degree is ₹2,36,000, while the fee for the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) is ₹4.25 lakh. This leads to a total annual expense of ₹24 lakh. At Netaji Subhash University of Technology, the fee increases from ₹4.25 lakh in the second year to ₹5 lakh. The situation is such that the fees keep rising year after year.

The state of Delhi’s education system is such that funding for all colleges and universities, including Netaji Subhash University of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Delhi University, IGNOU, and others, has been halted by the Kejriwal government.

Student Of Distance Learning :- “Books are not distributed on time. Often, they receive only half of the required set or 2-3 books are missing. Universities do not provide online materials or classes. In offline sessions, they mainly conduct classes for only 2-3 subjects, and for additional subjects, there are no materials or classes available.”

The reality is that they have focused only on education from primary school to 12th grade. Kejriwal promised free education, but as one can see, the fees are so high that families earning below 1 lakh per annum cannot afford it. Is this really enough to provide education up to class 12th?

Freebies:

Free things are beneficial for the public, especially since not everyone can afford many things. Women who are economically disadvantaged often wish to travel, so offering free bus services is helpful, as it does not place an additional financial burden on those who are earning. However, this is not enough. While providing free bus rides is a positive step, there needs to be a policy or program aimed at making women financially independent and empowering them. Additionally, young people who rely on public transport are facing similar challenges.

Why isn’t the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) focusing more on creating employment opportunities and providing greater opportunities for the youth?

The AAP has claimed that they have worked on women’s safety, but what concrete actions have they taken to ensure this? At bus stops, the lights are often not working, and in local areas that are poorly lit or in need of more street lights, these issues remain unresolved. When streetlights do become defective, they are not always repaired in a timely manner. Cases of sexual harassment and assault have become increasingly common, yet authorities often fail to take prompt action. These incidents are occurring frequently on buses and metros. He again said to transfer Rs. 2100 in everyone’s accounts just a tactic to gather votes. This does not stop here there are lots of things which Kejriwal has promised made and then not done so now the public has demand of surety from Kejriwal and so many People are Upset and change their ways from AAP.
