Young Congress leader Himani Narwal was found brutally murdered, her body stuffed inside a suitcase at Rampala Bus Stand in Rohtak on February 1st. The 22-year-old women, a resident of Vijay Nagar, had been staying in Shivaji Colony before the tragic incident. Her shocking death has sent ripples of outrage across political circles and the public.
Upon discovery, police noted that Narwal’s neck was wrapped with a dupatta, and her hands bore fresh mehendi, suggesting a premeditated crime. Authorities suspect she was strangled to death using the dupatta. Her body was promptly transported to PGIMS Rohtak for a post-mortem examination to ascertain further details about the murder.

The Congress party expressed profound grief over her death through a post on X called for an impartial and thorough investigation. Reacting strongly to the incident, senior Congress leader B.B. Batra demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, emphasizing Narwal’s unwavering dedication to the party’s events and initiatives.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a Congress MP, raised serious concerns about Haryana’s deteriorating law and order situation, urging swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda condemned the “barbaric” murder, describing it as a grave blot on the state’s security apparatus. In a social media post, he called for a high-level independent inquiry and stringent punishment for those responsible. Addressing the allegations, Hooda stated, “A culprit is a culprit, whether he is in the party or anyone else. The culprit should be identified and punished as per law. The Congress party stands with Himani’s family in this hour of grief.”
Sampla police station in-charge Vijendra Singh confirmed that an investigation was underway and that a case had been formally registered. The police have formed multiple teams to explore all possible motives behind the crime, including personal enmity and political rivalry. CCTV footage and Narwal’s social media activity are being closely examined to uncover potential leads.
Adding a new dimension to the case, Narwal’s mother alleged that members within the Congress party itself may have been involved in her daughter’s murder. She hinted that Himani’s growing influence in politics might have threatened certain individuals. In protest and seeking justice, her family has refused to cremate the body until the culprits are brought to book.

Meanwhile, police sources confirmed the arrest of one accused, Sachin, a friend of Himani and a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana. His role in the murder is being closely investigated, and further interrogations are expected to shed light on the case.
Haryana Minister and BJP leader Anil Vij termed the allegations made by Narwal’s mother as “serious,” adding, “To move ahead, push others behind… this is Congress’ old culture.” He assured the public that the police are conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation into the matter.
Rohtak Congress MLA B.B. Batra has reiterated the demand for a high-level probe, asserting, “She was a Congress worker. This brutal murder should be investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). It is unfortunate that such a gruesome act was committed on Himani.”
Further criticizing the BJP government, Hooda highlighted the rising crime rate in Haryana, pointing out that a BSP leader was recently murdered in Naraingarh, the hometown of the chief minister. He also recalled last year’s murders of the INLD state chief in Bahadurgarh and a JJP leader in Hansi, as well as multiple extortion threats received by MLAs.
