Badlapur Sexual Abuse Case calls for Maharashtra Bandh on Aug 24 By Opposition coalition lead by MVA. The opposition coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi that means development Front (MVA) called for a “Maharashtra Bandh on 24 th August. MVA alliances are congress, Shiv sena and NCP. The F IR have been registered against those who protested.it is a state level political coalition formed Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election 2019 under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray. The allies of the front are Shiv Sena, NCP, INdian National congress, Samajwadi Party, PWPI, CPI, CPI(M) and other political parties and some independent MLA’s.

The protest against alleged sexual assault on two girls aged 3 and 4 at their nursery school washroom in Badlapur of Thane district by sweeper aged 23 worked there on contractual baisis. The brutal offence committed earlier on August 16. But the crime was narrated by one of the victims to her parents. POlice filed FIR after 11 hours of First information Statement from the family members of the Victim. The victims were still in shock and refused to go to school and urinate. Some parents had informed the school authorities about the misbehaviour of the same accused before the recent crime committed by the same. The suspect Akshay Shinde was taken into custody on 17 th August. The court ordered the extension of his police custody till August 26 on 21 st August. A close relative of one of the victims, the school authorities failed to provide a safe atmosphere to the students and they tried to impose the responsibilities to the class teacher, Principal and one another female attendant.
Every school authority shall have the responsibility to provide a safe atmosphere to their students, especially to minor children. Government also suspended three police including a sub Inspector. Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh demanded the clearance and implementation of the Shakti bill with provisions for the death penalty for atrocities against children and women. Both the houses of legislature of Maharashtra had passed the shakti criminal laws (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, 2020. And the special court & machinery for implementation of Maharashtra Shakti criminal law, 2020 when Maha Vikas Aghadi was in power.

Opposition parties staged protests across several parts of the state, including Thane, Pune, and areas of Marathwada. Ann MP Supriya Sule alleged that the lots of police are busy with security for the leaders and there are not enough police to maintain law and order. And requested the govt. to withdraw her security. As protesters stormed Badlapur station Tuesday they stopped the local trains and blocked the track. The protest led to the diversion of several long distance trains including the Mumbai-Surat Vande Bharat, pune duronto, and other trains. Local train services on the Ambernath and Karjat routes were also affected due to the protest. The train services were obstructed for 10 hours on Tuesday Manoj Pattil, DCP of GRP reported. police lodged FIR against 500 and arrested and taken into custody in connection with protest against the sexual abuse case. 66 . Further arrests are expected following a CCTV footage review.
Police resorted to baton charge to disperse the crowd after some protesters threw stones, resulting in injuries to over a dozen police persons. Deputy commissioner of Police said that the arrested individuals face charges of riot, damaging public property and causing hurt to public officials among other offences. Internet services in badlapur town have been suspended in the context of a protest. Maharashtra Deputy chief Minister Evendra Fadnavis announced that senior Lawyer Ujjwal Nikam will be the special public prosecutor in the Badlapur sexual assault case.

He assured that the trial in the case would be held at a Fast track court. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered a high level probe into the case and a special investigation team will be formed. CM alleged that the act of violence was politically motivated and the opposition cannot accept the success of the Ladki Bahin scheme. As per the Women Peace and security Index 202 released by Georgetown Institute for Women , peace and security, India ranks 128 out of 177 countries. According to WHO at least one in three women world wide has experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime and nearly one in ten girl has experienced sexual violence.

We need systematic change , gender -transformative approaches etc. cultural attitudes, reforming policies, supporting systems, campaigns training also along with sufficient efficient Legal regulation may positively change the attitude of the society to.The victims and survivors need legal, medical , counciling, psycho-social counselling, shelter homes etc to support the victims rehabilitation. Primary duty of the police is to protect the life and property of the citizen. Everyone has the right to live, that means the right to a dignified life. State shall have the duty to protect the life of every one that protection guaranteed by the constitution itself.
