Brutal Caste Violence: Dalit Sisters Assaulted and Humiliated on Their Wedding Day in Mathura

In a shocking display of caste-based brutality, two Dalit sisters were brutally assaulted and publicly humiliated by a group of goons on their wedding day in Mathura. The heinous incident has sent shockwaves across the nation, igniting fresh debates on caste oppression and the urgent need for justice. The wedding possession of two sisters on 21st February 2025 at Karnawal village in Refinery area in Mathura.. the accused’s used casteist slur.

A Sacred Union Shattered by Violence

The wedding, meant to be a joyous occasion, turned into a nightmare when a mob stormed the ceremony, targeting the brides and their families. According to eyewitnesses, Shreepal, Rohtash Yadav , Lokesh Yadav, Satish  and their team dragged the brides’ uncle out of the car and began to beat him mercilessly. When the two sisters stepped out to intervene, they were met with further violence. The goons threw mud on their faces, hurled abuses, and physically assaulted them, attempting to strip them of their dignity in front of the assembled guests. The attackers, reportedly from dominant caste groups, justified their actions with deep-seated prejudices, reinforcing the systemic oppression that Dalits continue to endure.

Despite frantic efforts by the family and local well-wishers to protect the victims, the assailants continued their rampage, leaving the sisters injured and emotionally scarred. The violence, occurring in broad daylight, highlighted the impunity with which casteist elements operate, often unafraid of legal consequences.

The Struggle for Justice

Following the attack, the victims’ families lodged a complaint with the police, demanding immediate action. Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene hours later, facing mounting pressure from activists, politicians, and human rights organizations. FIRs were filed against the perpetrators, but concerns remain over whether justice will be served swiftly and fairly.

Activists argue that such incidents are not isolated but part of a larger pattern of caste-based atrocities that persist despite constitutional safeguards. “This is not just an attack on two sisters; it is an assault on the dignity of an entire community. The government must act decisively,” said Dalit rights advocate Ravi Kumar.

Public Outrage and Calls for Action

The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with netizens, activists, and political leaders condemning the attack. Protests erupted in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, demanding strict punishment for the culprits and stronger laws to prevent caste-based violence.

Several leaders, including opposition politicians and human rights groups, have called for immediate arrests and fast-track trials. “If our daughters cannot be safe on their wedding day, when can they be? The administration must prove that justice is not just for the privileged few,” remarked Sujata Devi, a social activist leading the protests.

A Fight for Dignity and Equality

The brutal attack on the Dalit sisters is a grim reminder of the deep-rooted caste discrimination that continues to plague Indian society. While legal interventions may offer some respite, true change requires a collective shift in societal attitudes. As activists and citizens rally behind the victims, this tragic incident serves as both a wake-up call and a test for the nation’s commitment to equality and justice.

As the survivors recover from their physical and emotional trauma, their fight for justice has only begun. Their resilience, coupled with growing public support, will determine whether this horrifying episode serves as a catalyst for lasting change or fades into the annals of ignored caste violence.

The police registered a case against 16 persons  under sections 191(2), 191(3), 127(2), 304,, 109, 324(4), 351(2) of BNS and  sections 3 of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe ( Prevention of Atrocities) Act. For were arrested in connection with the case. A minor traffic accident in the Refinery area escalated into horrible crime.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Asim Arun met the brides and their family members and promised strict action against the accused’s. “ We will find suitable grooms for the sisters and ensure they are married with full honour and dignity.” Asim Arun – Minister of State (Independent charge) for Social Welfare .

However the marriage successfully convened in the presence of the dalit Leader and Member of Parliament chandrashekhar. The leaders of ASP and Bhim Army Chandrashekhar Azad and Vinay Ratan met the family members and offered all the support to  them Azad just after the incident . Thereafter with  the instruction of Chandrashekhar Azad the father of Pradeep and his brother Om Veer become ready to marry the sisters. Handrashekhar azad and their party gave protection to the marriage ceremony.
