101 Dalit houses set fire, Marukumbi in Karnataka and the offenders condemned on October 24.

In the Marakumbi Village incident, houses of many Dalits were set on fire by the member’s of another group.One hundred and one, culprits are to be punished by court in Gangavathi Taluk koppal district.

The incident shook the state in 2014. The conviction given on Thursday.Dalits were denied their entry to hotels and barbershops in the Village. The victims and the culprits enter into fight.Numerous Dalits leaders went on padyatra from koppal district to Bangaluru.

Initially, 117 people booked in the case

While some of them died before the conviction of the case. Police started a manhunt for one suspect who is still missing.

Marakumbi village was under strict surveillance of police for three months prior to this tragedy in 2014, Veeresh Marakumbi, a Dalit leader who lead found dead near koppal railway station allegedly murder. The burning of his hands was a tragic incident that several Dalit leaders said in koppal.Marumi village is still remembered for the shameful act.

The court convicted 101 accused.

Constitution of India prohibiting discriminations based on caste and guaranteed fundamental rights.

However the caste people are still denying basic rights of the Dalits and trying to impose restrictions on the people belonging to the community.

The shameful incident shows the reality of practicing and continuing in India since time immemmorial.
